Russia has withdrawn from the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) and denounced the Council of Europe Convention on Criminal Liability for Corruption due to discrimination of Moscow's representatives within the anti-corruption organization. This was announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry, RBC reports.

"In March, by the decision of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the membership of the Russian Federation in the group was terminated, with the exception of the latter monitoring the fulfillment by our country of obligations arising from the Convention. At the same time, Russia is deprived of the right to participate in the discussion of country reports and the right to vote," the representatives of the department explained.

Previously, the head of the French Academy, Helene Carrer d'Ankoss stated that the EU needs a security system built jointly with Russia. She also called for understanding Russia instead of supporting the fight against it.
